Welcome back. The future of the One Inch Dreamers

Welcome Back, the future of the One Inch Dreamers

Every new beginning starts with change. Currently, there is a lot going on and much has been changing in the slackline world out there. In 2019 two established slackline companies died, new records are broken almost every week, and of course we at One Inch Dreams have not been untouched by times of change either. You are wondering how the One Inch Dreamers continue? Just take a look at Marinus´ latest blog post below.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been about ten years already, since an idea called „One Inch Dreams“ arose from our young and wild minds. At first, it was just the name of a small collective of German-based slackliners who figured out– much to their surprise – that there is actually a market for highline-shows that would enable them to continue their beloved “dirtbag” lifestyle. Hannes found his passion in story-telling via camera, Clemens had more or less fun doing project organisation, marketing and social media, and Mirko, as the most wise and organized man, always kept an eye on the financial stuff. Most of you probably don’t know that we started as a group of six: Anatoly, the Russian, was there to keep up the good mood:

Yes! The one and only Anatoly Maltsev, legendary for his fondness of very long leashes and his different understanding of how to attach them to the human body... Pic from 2009 by unknown photographer.

Marinus was responsible for all the technical stuff and Alex was there to just go nuts on the highline, as you all know. Three years after the initial idea, we had to find a legal way to write invoices for our films and sponsorships. At the same time Marinus started to develop and produce slackline-equipment, owing to the fact that our own projects demanded increasingly sophisticated set-ups. These products filled a gap on the slackline market, so we decided to sell them worldwide.

At the same time Marinus started to develop and produce slackline-equipment, owing to the fact that our own projects demanded increasingly sophisticated set-ups. These products filled a gap on the slackline market, so we decided to sell them worldwide.

During that time, all of us - except for Alex - realized that we were starting to lose interest in slacklining. There was fun and joy in doing it all, but the initial euphoria around the sport had faded for most of us. We still love each other, had no financial or legal disaster, and no one died - which we count among our biggest achievements over all. There is a wise German saying that goes something like: „It's always best to leave when things are at their best.“

This is why we are here to announce our future plans concerning One Inch Dreams:

Mirko, Clemens and the author of this blog, Marinus, will be leaving the company by the end of the year.
Alex and Hannes will hopefully continue doing awesome shit forever, working on new films, new creative ways of connecting points in space, and, last but not least, giving you more insight into all of our previous projects.

We decided to close our online shop in order to reduce the work to an amount suitable for three people. So…if you are planning to purchase one of the last pieces of awesome equipment produced by One Inch Dreams, this is your chance! In order to make your decision a bit easier, we are offering a 33% discount on all the pulleys available in our online shop as long as supplies last. Free merch, such as calendars etc. will be included with every order, of course!

We would like to take this time to say a big THANK YOU to all of the loyal customers we had over the last years. Additionally, we’d like to say: if you bought any of our products in the past, and they have become worn out or need maintenance, please contact us! We will take care of it, even after the shop is closed.

We wish you all the best!
